Protect. Represent. Distribute.
From the toe of the Sierra Foothills to the heart of the Sacramento Valley.
Who We Are
South Sutter Water District represents more than 200 landowners in Sutter and Placer counties, from the toe of the Sierra Foothills to the heart of the Sacramento Valley. The district was founded in 1954 to develop, store and distribute surface water to reverse the effects of a dwindling aquifer as a result of over pumping of groundwater.
What We Do
We aim to supply 80,000+ acre-feet of surface water on an annual basis to landowners from the Camp Far West Reservoir, via our canal system and through utilizing natural water ways such as Yankee Slough, Ping Slough, Racoon Creek, Bunkman Slough, Markham Ravine, Auburn Ravine, King Slough, Curry Creek and Pleasant Grove Creek.
